Headteacher’s Welcome
Welcome to Ysgol Talhaiarn, and thank you for taking the time to visit our website.
Ysgol Talhaiarn is proud to be a Category 2 Transitioning School in Wales. This means we offer education through both Welsh and English, supporting pupils to become confident, capable, and proficient bilingual learners. Our strong Welsh ethos is at the heart of everything we do, and both languages are woven naturally through our teaching, learning, and daily school life.
Our school is nestled in beautiful countryside just five miles from Abergele. As a small, close‑knit school with an excellent staff‑to‑pupil ratio, we are able to truly get to know every child. This allows us to support, nurture, and challenge each pupil as an individual, helping them grow in confidence and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are extremely fortunate to have Cylch Talhaiarn located on-site, offering high‑quality early years provision. The Cylch provides funded Flying Start places for children from 18 months, giving our youngest learners the very best start in a familiar, caring environment. Alongside this, we offer both a Breakfast Club and an After School Club, providing flexible and supportive wrap‑around care for our families.
Set within a vibrant rural community, we are just a short walk from the heart of the village and only minutes away from the stunning River Elwy. Our local environment plays an essential role in our curriculum. Each class regularly takes part in walks and outdoor learning experiences, using the natural world around us to enrich and inspire our teaching.
We want every child at Ysgol Talhaiarn to develop a sense of curiosity, confidence, and ambition. By providing meaningful opportunities and experiences beyond their everyday expectations, we aim to help our pupils recognise that a world of possibilities lies ahead of them.
